You could also ask - why is my rank nnn when I have the same score as the person at nnn? The scoring works based on the latest person to get that score. Make sense? So if you score 20 and you rank 10th in the world, and then someone else scores 20, you'll rank 11th (or whatever) - because their score is newer than yours. A rank is determined on the score, and the time you played. You've got to keep playing to keep your place.
Aces are high. You can't go higher on an ace (or lower on a two) anyway.
You get five to start, and one more for every 10 correct guesses.
They cards were originally from the awesome SVG-cards created by David Bellot (http://svg-cards.sourceforge.net/), and then I also borrowed some bits from the modification of the aforementioned, Brandon Ardiente's SVG-Z-cards (http://ardisoft.net/svg-z-cards/). I more or less took the card back and the picture cards, and recreated everything with a different font and an exact placement of all the suit symbols, so it wouldn't look odd when a new card came in.
Just the one. I experimented with more, but one is more fun. I've even given you the odds of a low / high card to make it a little less of a guess. You can see how many cards are left at the top of the screen.
I'm pretty sure they're not. They're based on the cards left in the pack - if all high cards come out, the probability of a lower card coming out soon is greater. It doesn't add up to 100% because they're always a chance you'll get the same number. The percentages represent lower and higher, not the same. Although I was kind enough to give you a card if it was the same. Go me. Yay.
No idea. Tweet me with some details (@yesiamben) and I'll try and fix it.
Leagues have got to be alphanumeric, with no spaces, and will end up uppercase. They've also got to be between 3 and 8 characters long. If someone else has created the league before you, you'll get an error as well. I probably could have made the errors a bit nicer / smoother but, well, I just didn't bother.
You have to complete one whole game with in a league before the league is registered.
Weekend project. Well, *saying* that... I could have done it in a weekend, but it actually took a couple of hours in the evening for 5 or 6 nights. I just wanted to play with the Twitter API a bit, and guessing cards is quite fun. And a little bit addictive.
It's there already. Just press A, W or D and you'll start again (from the Game Over screen).
Not really a question, but I'm well aware there's a bunch of other stuff I could have added. AJAX the card turns, animated cards, midi background music, unicorns, nudity - that kind of awesome stuff. I didn't though. If you're interested, and you're playing this, let me know, and maybe I'll add it. Or maybe I'll add what you suggest.
I know. Sure. Tweet me - @yesiamben.
